我想是因為我們在當時的情緒是需要合於閱讀或觀看時的內容，不然會降低我們對於閱讀或想像的共鳴和情感。
像是「離開的小孩回來了，不久又會永別」，還有你提到的「走向不同的道路，你走到哪裡就是哪裡，是一種緣份」的專注(線性時空走向)，這些都是故事情節「走(讀)到哪裡就是哪裡」的引人入勝，並且渴望讀到文末的誘人之處。
這部戲劇《淡水小鎮》，死去的艾茉莉回到人間同樣是平凡一天，並且爸媽沒有注意到自己這個孤單的孩子。然而，倘若「回來的艾茉莉」在另一種發展或努力下，匯集成另一段時空和故事展開，也許便可以不同於「不久又會永別」的走向來想像。
其它並存的可能，則是另一種平行時空的想像和呈現。當初思維中那股淚流的悲傷仍在，然而，透過這種想像，便可能開啟另一些故事篇章，也並不一定會降低我們因聚焦而產生的情感與自我。

再來，雖然我也不太能接受「返回舊時光改變生死大事」。不過，倘若返回舊時光改變生死這件事情是「僅存在於片面的平行時空中」，那麼，那些返回舊時光或躍升至未來的人們，即便打著改變生死大事的算盤，經過一次次爭奪生命的局面，牽動到的生死會轉成「生命的一層」，有點像是「3D的生命被抽離掉/包裹住一層2D」的概念。
